The second edition of OSCAFEST was held in March and organized by Open Source Community Africa. They are a community that aims to create and foster the open source movement within Africa.
Their objective is to assist African developers in integrating the act of contributing to open source projects while strongly supporting the movement of free and open source software.
The Open Source Festival (OSCAFEST) was a high-profile event that attracted student delegates, designers, developers, and corporate organizations with a series of talks, workshops and awareness campaign on open-sourced developer tools.
This edition served as a forum for discussions, networking, and idea generation around current technological developments and the growth of open source in Africa.
The UD Conference was a one-day learning and practical session for designers, developers, artists, managers and builders.
The Zone provided the atmosphere through which UDC inspired participants to challenge and push themselves in the creative process, learning and drawing inspiration from those thriving in the industry. #
In addition, the event included transformative sessions and the opportunity to connect with like-minded innovators in Africa and the world.
The UDC was a hybrid event for various creative disciplines (artists, entrepreneurs, builders, developers, and community leaders) in Africa.
We hosted local developers who came together at the Google I/O Extended event to explore the latest developments in technology.
Participants came together to discuss new technologies, host Q&A sessions, summarise content and meet fellow tech enthusiasts.
The event also included thoughtful discussions, hands-on learning, and everything from the cloud, web, Flutter, machine learning, and Web 3.
Participants had an exciting experience as they learned, made new connections, laughed, jumped, and created memories.
In April, The Zone hosted the Localhost Lagos Meetup with plenty of enthusiasm. The Localhost Meetup is an annual event that brings together DevOps, cloud, and site reliability engineers worldwide.
At this event, held as a hybrid event, tech experts, thought leaders, and consultants gathered to connect, accelerate, and innovate.
The event also featured keynote speeches, interactive/networking sessions, break-out sessions, and much more.
Tech enthusiasts used the platform to discuss the possibilities of cloud infrastructure and how the adoption of DevOps can be feasible in Nigeria and across the globe.

In July, the Treekle team had a fantastic experience at the Treekle tribe hangout 2.0. The ambience was electric as they launched the Treekle App with some exciting features.
The Treekle hangout included many giveaways, fun activities, games, and more.
After a 3-day virtual 'hackathon', Gen Z Techies held its 1-day in-person conference at The Zone's Ruby Hall. The event was aimed at connecting tech-centred Gen Zs on a large scale.
The event witnessed a large gathering of Africa's youngest innovators and changemakers.
It saw ambitious Gen Zs put their creative and coding skills to the test, attempt to build solutions to problems in Africa, and generally showcase what they can do.
The event included talk sessions, presentations, exhibitions and a product showcase by Gen Zs in the community.
We were also glad to host Deismo Cloud for their Google Cloud Event.
The event featured tech professionals tasked with developer operations, cloud-native transformation, software engineering and architecture, etc.
The High Flyer Conference themed My Future: The Bigger Picture, which the Young High Academy hosted, also experienced The Zone in May.
The conference is a highly transformative event designed to raise brilliant youngsters and build a community of future high flyers.
Youngsters had fun as they were equipped, developed, empowered and commissioned as the next generation of high flyers.
Parents came along to also support their children and learned the areas they can play critical roles in their successes.
Participating youngsters and their parents truly enjoyed an incredible ambience and unforgettable experience.
The ALX Africa team is on a mission to empower young people to build a limitless future. They aim to place two million young Africans in great jobs by 2030.
On their journey, they ensured this message was passed across to participants at The Room conference who enjoyed The Zone's experience.
Participants left the event with a strong sense of urgency and motivation to establish themselves in Nigeria's tech revolution, knowing that the future of Africa will be paved by technology.
